Third baseman Aaron Bray was selected in the 27th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Houston Astros.

The Charlotte native finished his career in a Niners uniform as the program’s all-time career hits leader with 293. In addition to being the hits leader, he is the second player in Niner history with over 200 hits and 200 runs, as he finished with 212 runs.

After recording two home runs in Charlotte’s 2008 post-season, the three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection was also a member to the 2008 All-Raleigh Regional team. Bray was also the 2006 A-10 Rookie of the Year and a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American.

Upon the selection, Bray was told he has a week to pack and head to Florida for workouts. Bray will begin his professional baseball career on June 23 in Greenville, Tennessee before heading back to Charlotte to complete his degree in order to graduate in December.

With this selection 10 players, in the last four drafts, have left Charlotte to enter the major league.
