Behind two home runs from Winthrop’s first baseman Eddie Tisdale, the Eagles were able to break Charlotte’s five-game winning streak Tuesday, 7-2. Scoring began early, but it was not from the 49ers. Tisdale drilled the ball over the fence in left field to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Three Niners pick up weekly Atlantic 10 honors

Track members outshine competition yet again

Charlotte athletics has once again cleaned up the weekly Atlantic 10 awards. Sophomore sprinter Darius Law took home Men’s Track and Field Performer of the Week for the fourth time during outdoor season, while sophomore Moritz Bernhoerster took home the Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week.

Charlotte golf looks to defend title

The Charlotte 49ers men’s golf team will look to defend its Atlantic 10 Championship title this weekend in Orlando, FL, when they square off with the best competition that the A-10 has to offer. The 49ers are two-time defending champions of the event, but have struggled thus far in the spring.

Softball sweeps St. Bonaventure on the road

Junior pitcher Emily Jeffery came out to the doubleheader ready to play her best game. Jeffery set her own new record with 15 strikeouts in one game playing Saint Bonaventure. The Charlotte 49ers gained a victory in the first game, winning 2-1. The second game the Niners fought back and won with a score of 7-5.

Baseball clinches second A-10 series

The 49ers faced number two seed Temple this weekend in A-10 action at Skip Wilson Field. In game one on Friday, Charlotte began with two runs in the first and two in the second to grab a 4-0 lead. Senior Alan Parks hit a two-run homer in the first for the game’s first runs. Charlotte’s runs in the second came on a sacrifice fly by second baseman Corey Shaylor.

Track and Field gains momentum

Team turns in several top marks in final pre-conference races over the weekend

With less than two weeks remaining before the Atlantic 10 Track and Field Championships, the Charlotte track and field teams combined for their best weekend of racing this spring. Leading the way was the distance squad, which traveled north to compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey.

Charlotte tennis team finishes third at A-10 Championship

Behind a 4-3 victory over Xavier, the Charlotte 49ers women’s tennis team was able to take a third place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship Sunday morning. The 49ers’ top duo, junior Ana Spivakovsky and senior Yudeshnee Pillay, won their doubles match, but Charlotte fell short at two and three.

Women’s Lacrosse reflects on season so far

Each team has 11 players plus a goalie out on the field, and each player is determined to score. The end goal is victory. UNC Charlotte’s Women’s Lacrosse team scored its recognition by Recreational Services and Club Sports last semester, fall 2008: Team captain Jessica Thompson, sophomore and Sociology major, spurred this induction.
