The cooks got the water boiling this past Wednesday when CAB hosted its Top Ramen Chef Competition. Three ramen chefs came and competed for that moment of self-aggrandizing glory and find out whose ramen cuisine reigns supreme.

Cycle Pump is intense; the class incorporates at separate times the bike and the use of weights. The class is located in the Group Fitness Aerobics room in the SAC on Fridays, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Review of cardio kickboxing

Jab, kick, lunge, shuffle and various other moves were incorporated in UNC Charlotte’s Cardio Kickboxing class. It’s held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Group Fitness Aerobics room. The class is instructed by Thomas Emmett, personal trainer and group fitness instructor.

UNCC student makes a run for Miss North Carolina USA

Communications major Brittney Q. Hill is competing for the Miss North Carolina USA crown. The pageant will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14 - 15 in High Point. The pageant will consist of three categories: interview, evening gown and swimsuit. This year’s theme for the pageant is “Runways of the World, Seasons of Fashion.”

    Our star faculty member for this month is Dr. Anton Pujol from the Department of Languages and Culture Studies.  He is an assistant professor and a full-time faculty member of UNC Charlotte.  His teaching style is interactive, fun and engaging; he steps outside the box of the monotone regurgitation of facts.

    Students honor the African heritage

    Brought to us by the SGA, the Organization of African Students (OAS) hosted their very first African Gala in AfterHours on Friday night. Doors opened at 6 p.m. in AfterHours with admission for students free. Other guests paid five dollars to enjoy the evening of poetry, African dance and other planned festivities.

    The Triangle Fraternity became UNC Charlotte’s 13th member of the Interfraternity Council (IFC) when its brothers worked to bring a branch of the organization to campus. The first new Greek organization admitted to UNC Charlotte in an estimated 12 years.

    The famous show “Deal or no Deal” on NBC is watched by millions of viewers every Wednesday at 9 p.m., but have you gone to college with a person on the show?  Students of UNCC can no longer say “no” to this question, because Junior Christina Lampone of UNCC will be on the show Nov. 5 and Nov. 7 at 9 p.m.

    Have you ever heard of the term “Quidditch?” Well, if you’ve ever seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read any of the books in the series, you sure have. Quidditch is a fictional sport developed by J.K. Rowling for the Harry Potter book series.

    It’s one thing to see performers do some amazing stunts on a grand stage. It’s a completely different thing getting to know performers and making a bond with them as they do amazing stunts. “Trace,” a high-energy, acrobatic, poetic and humorous show, stars the ability of five performers and their stories about their life and hobbies.

    Cooking how-to’s with Chef Roger

    Roger Lademann is the head chef for UNCC’s dining services and today he did a demonstration for the Earth Club and all those that were interested.  Lademann, along with chef Carl Brown, prepared all-vegetarian meals, likely to spark most appetites rather than just those of the herbivore taste.

    In last week’s SGA elections, senior Omar McMillian was elected to serve as the next senior class president. Defeating his closest opponent by a staggering 55 votes, McMillian won by a greater margin than any other winner in the class president category.
