Not happy with where the UNC Charlotte campus is going? The campus is asking individuals to let their voices be heard today at the first UNCC Campus Crossroads Forum (CCF) where students, faculty and staff can give their input on where they think the campus should be in the year 2020.
UNCC has more than doubled its size in the past decade, and is one of the most populated universities in the UNC school system. With so many students, faculty and staff on campus, developers feel it is very important to have a plan as to where the University will be headed in the future.
“This campus is growing rapidly and becoming more diverse,” said Kerrie Stewart, part of the UNCC Council of University Committee. “And this [Campus Crossroads] Forum will address what kind of campus UNCC will become by 2020.”
According to the UNCC public relations site, this forum is also known as a “visioning forum,” meaning this will be where various visions of the future UNCC will be discussed by students, faculty and staff.
There will be much discussion about the social and interracial trust problems at UNCC at the CCF, according to the UNCC public relations site. Students are encouraged to attend and can wear everyday clothing: jeans and a nice shirt would be appropriate for this event. Stewart also mentions that the chancellor as well as other administrators will be attending the CCF and giving a few remarks.
Currently, the University follows the Master Plan its administration revises at the beginning of each academic year. Projects under this plan have included the Student Union, the Bioinformatics building and the EPIC building which has not yet broken ground.
The Crossroads open forum will be held on Nov. 11 from 12:30 - 5 p.m. in the Miltimore Wallis Athletic Academic Center, located adjacent to the Student Activity Center (SAC) on campus.
In order to attend the event, participants must register online at: Crossroads.
