Sixteen faculty members from various academic departments will give weekly presentations on Barack Obama, his ideas, and his political philosophy and practices. The colloquium will be held every Wednesday in Fretwell 128, from 5 to 7:45pm.

The series will conclude on April 21, with a day-long symposium, Interrogating Barack Obama Across the Disciplines. The keynote speaker has not yet been announced.

Colloquium topics include, The Obama Phenomenon: Race, Racism, and the “Browning of Terror;” The Gender Factor in Obama’s White House; Rhetorical Practices of the Obama Presidency; and Obama, Progress, and the Taming of Public Memory.

The events are opened to faculty, students, and members of the community, excluding April 14, which is open only to registered students. The department recommends pre-registering by sending an e-mail to ogundiran@uncc.edu
