NBC's hit show The Office finally gave us the episode we have all been waiting for. Jim and Pam's wedding, almost a season in the making, aired last Thursday night at 8-9pm. This two part episode was full of laughs and hilarious pick-up lines from all the cast members. However it was not what I had expected it to be.

Being the show The Office means being quirky, witty and having dark commentary on everyday normal life. Weddings are suppose to be the best moment in a person's life and this episode was bitter sweet. The show began with Jim and Pam discussing what to do and what not to do at the wedding in the office.

As the show went on Jim, at the pre-wedding dinner, let slip that Pam was pregnant which led Michel to give a crash course in “bedroom activities” to the whole room. Michel during this episode was surprisingly serious most of the time and even told Dwight that he was stupid and immoral.

The episode centered on all the intertwining relationships of the office members and their actions with Jim and Pam's families. Dwight got involved with Pam's bridesmaid, Michel after a long and painful weekend got to together with Pam's mom and Kevin scored big points with everybody when his shoes were deemed a safety hazard. Meanwhile Pam had to take Andy To the hospital because of a groin injury eight hours before her wedding.

When the big day finally came Jim and Pam were nowhere to be found and this left the others to contemplate whether or not to take back their wedding gifts. Jim and Pam decided to skip out of the planed wedding and got married in front of Niagara Falls instead. They simply did not want to deal with all the stress and expectations that everybody had. This is what made the episode bitter for me.

If you are going to plan a wedding invite your friends you should at the very least deal with all of their short comings and get married in front of them. They eventually showed up for the wedding and got married for a second time in the church with everybody present.

However I feel the second wedding was let down to everybody by leaving them in the dark. Jim and Pam did not let the others experience a true wedding, which in my opinion is wrong. The other part that made this episode bitter for me was how long the writers took to air the wedding. I did not see any great moral teachings as this show usually gives when a major plot point comes up. Maybe the writers are going to use the wedding in a way that will show a greater character change in the future. However this episode did deliver the laughs, the social awkwardness and compelling story lines that keeps the office going. I would encourage you to pick up the show if you have not watched it before, because it is easy to follow and full of laughs.
